Sunday 29th June - walk *** – Falkenham Church including a picnic with ‘Emily’– Sunny periods and hot.

The heatwave continues, after three days in a row where I have got up fairly early to go windsurfing it was nice to have a bit of a lay-in:) It was pleasant this being being cloudy which knocked the temperature down so I could do my ezercises in the back garden. Then around one we packed a quick lunch, just a tin of sardines for me, crackers and brie for Mag, we know how to live and we drove inland to avoid Felixstowe seafront as it was heaving, we can’t stand crowds and ended up at our go to Sunday picnic venue, the lovely quiet Falkenham Church with its great views down to the Deben! Lunch went well with the highlight being a buzzard having an argument with a crow! Despite the heat and light winds we decided to make the effort and walk down to the River Deben spotting loads of butterflies enroute:) Not much to report on wildlife, too hot for them but we did bump into Roger, an old birdwatching out on his electric bike! We sat on the river wall for ages in a bit of a cooling breeze watching the sailing boats before taking the slow walk back to the van and head for home!
